Jesus used many agriculture-based parables to teach. From these parables, several principles have been developed, and I will be sharing a few of them.
The first is the principle of probability. A farmer does not plant just one seed—he plants multiple seeds because this increases his chances of yielding a harvest. Not all seeds are viable, and even among the viable ones, not all will flourish. Those that do will thrive at varying levels.
We see this principle exemplified in the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:3-9, Mark 4:3-9, Luke 8:4-8). The Sower scattered his seeds in four different locations, but only one—the good soil—produced a bountiful harvest. In another parable, Jesus further explains that even within good soil, the yield varies; some seeds produce a 30-fold return, some 60-fold, and others 100-fold Matthew 13:23.
Solomon, in his wisdom, echoes this principle: “Sow your seed in the morning and at evening; let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed—whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.” (Ecclesiastes 11:6). Similarly, Ecclesiastes 11:2 advises, “Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight,” emphasizing diversification to maximize success.
Another principle embedded in these teachings is the importance of location. Beyond the quality of the seed, where it is planted matters. A good seed in a bad location will not flourish. Location ultimately determines access to essential resources like sunlight, rain, and nutrients, all of which affect growth and productivity.
“Your location determines your allocation”
Beyond the spiritual connotations, these principles hold valuable secular lessons. In life, success is often a numbers game—whether in business, investments, or personal growth, spreading your efforts increases the likelihood of a breakthrough. Not every opportunity will bear fruit, and even successful ventures yield different results. Likewise, the environment we operate in—our network, industry, or market—plays a crucial role in determining outcomes. Choosing the right place to plant your efforts can make all the difference between stagnation and exponential growth.

Lord, help us to always find good soils and may the seeds in our hands always be high quality seeds. Beyond this, help us to always take bold steps in sowing our seeds even when it seems like nothing is happening. Amen.
Thank you Dr. for sharing
