In science class, I learned about receptor-binding sites—special spots on proteins where specific molecules, such as hormones, neurotransmitters, or medicines, attach to trigger a response in the body. These sites are highly selective, allowing only particular molecules to fit, much like a key fitting into a lock.
How does this concern you?
Everything—both living and non-living—has a receptor-binding site for God’s Word. When God speaks, creation responds. As John states in John 1:3, “Through His Word, all things were made; without the Word, nothing was made that has been made.” Every situation reacts to His Word because it was created by His Word.
A mentor, Sir Ladi once painted a powerful illustration of this as seen in the Bible (Luke 5:4-8) when Peter fished all night and caught nothing. Then Jesus stepped into his boat to preach. As Jesus spoke, even the fish gathered to hear His Word—because they, too, had a receptor-binding site for it. So, when Jesus instructed Peter to let down his nets, the result was a miraculous catch so large that it nearly sank his boat.
The Power of Affinity
A key feature of receptor binding sites is affinity—the strength of the connection between the receptor and the molecule determines the effectiveness of the response. In this analogy, God’s Word is the molecule, and we are the receptors. The stronger our connection with His Word, the more powerfully it manifests in our lives.
So, speak God’s Word in every situation. No matter what you’re facing, there is a receptor-binding site waiting to be activated. Align yourself with His Word, strengthen your affinity, and watch the transformation unfold.
Have a great weekend!
