A philosopher once said, “Your life is a sum total of your choices”.
Powerful statement but not entirely true.
Your life is not just a sum total of your choices but the choices others made for you such as your parent, and the X factor called “luck”.
But not to deviate from the point, your choices determine a lot on how your life turns out.
And that brings me to the next question, are your choices yours? Or someone/something else is making them for you?
As kids, our parents or guardians will usually make choices for us, but as adults, it seems AI + the algorithm now makes the choices for us.
And that’s scary.
Have you found yourself opening an app on your phone just to do something, only to catch yourself 30minutes later doom-scrolling and lost in the world of “shorts”?
It’s even pathetic these days that “shorts” are everywhere- YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok – you name it.
Your life that should be a sum total of your choices is gradually becoming the sum total of what the algorithm decides.
What’s the solution?
Reminds me of the advice Jesus gave in Matthew 18:9 “if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away”
Maybe throw the phone away? or delete the app?
Regardless of whatever you decide, the first step to solving a problem is by identifying it. I hope you were able to identify the problem as you read this post.
One simple step to take is to set boundaries.
Don’t let your phone take away the one thing you can control in determining the outcome of your life – your choice!

Your life are determined your choices and your choices are determined by your influencers. Profound.
The algorithm is so perfectly curated to keep us glued and decided for persons based on popular opinions.
